The academic year at MSU lasts from September till June.

Classes are in Russian.

Only citizens of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Kyrgyz Republic can be enrolled on a state-funded basis.

Enrollment campaign

Applications are accepted:

  • From 15 June till 10 July 2023 (for applicants to Specialist programs)
  • From 15 June till 20 July 2023 (for applicants to in-person Master programs)

Admission tests are conducted:

  • From 11 July till 26 July 2023 (for applicants to Specialist programs)
  • From 21 July till 26 July 2023 (for applicants to in-person Master programs)

Required documents

All applicants should submit the following documents:

  1. A personal application for admission to the University addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology (in Russian). The application should include the type of program you are applying to (Specialist, Master, postgraduate or doctoral program).
  2. A certificate of complete secondary education or higher education with the academic transcript and a notarized copy, including subjects, the number of hours, and grades. If a certificate is issued in a language other than Russian, the copy must be translated into Russian and either certified by the Russian consulate in the applicants country of residence or notarized. For non-CIS countries, academic certificates must always be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign/External Affairs of the applicants country of residence or apostilled by the Ministry of Education.
  3. A standard health certificate showing that the applicant has no medical contraindications to study in the Russian Federation and at the Faculty of Psychology, Form 086u (if any).
  4. A certificate showing that the applicant is not HIV positive, valid in the Russian Federation.
  5. Six photos 3 x 4 cm, black and white, matte.
  6. A course completion certificate issued by the MSU Institute of Russian Language and Culture (if any).
  7. A certificate showing the results of the Unified State Exams in Russian and biology (if any).
  8. Passport (original and copy). If the passport is issued in a language other than Russian, the notarized copy must be translated into Russian.
  9. A copy of the applicants visa (if any).
  10. Immigration card (original and copy).
  11. A copy of the applicants registration form (if any).
  12. A notarized copy of an apartment lease (or any other official document), if the prospective student is not going to reside in an MSU dormitory.
  13. If the applicant has no residence permit stamp [propiska] in his/her passport, the applicant should provide either an official document issued by the Passport Office [pasportny stol] to confirm that the applicant is registered at the place of residence or a notarized copy of the applicants ID showing the residence permit stamp (with Russian translation, if necessary).

Additional documents to be submitted by applicants under the program Compatriots Living Abroad

  1. Original and a notarized copy of the applicants passport (with Russian translation, if necessary); pages showing the applicants photo and residence permit stamp [propiska].
  2. A notarized copy of the passport of the applicants parent (with Russian translation, if necessary).
  3. Original and a notarized copy of the applicants birth certificate (with Russian translation, if necessary).
  4. A notarized copy of the birth certificate of the applicants parent (with Russian translation, if necessary).
  5. If there has been a change of surname/last name, a notarized copy of the certificate of surname/last name change (with Russian translation, if necessary).

Visa invitation

To receive an invitation to enter the Russian Federation, you should submit the following documents for review to the International Students Office, either in person or via a postal operator to: Lomonosov Moscow State University, 1 Leninskie Gory, Moscow, 119234, Attn: Faculty of Psychology, Admissions Committee:

  1. A personal application for admission to the University addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology.
  2. Copy of the first page of the applicants passport. The passport must be valid at least 18 months from the date of entry to the Russian Federation.
  3. Copy of an academic certificate (translated into Russian), preferably certified by the consular section of the Russian embassy.

After the review of the above documents, the International Students Office will send you an invitation to enter the Russian Federation. Please ask the Russian embassy in your country of residence about the visa procedure. The invitation process takes 1.5 to 2.5 months, so please make sure you submit the above documents at least 3 months before the classes start.

For registration, please contact the International Students Office of the Faculty of Psychology on the day of your arrival or by 5 pm of the next day at: Mokhovaya St. 11, Bldg. 9, Office 109, Moscow 125009 Russia.

Additional Costs

  1. Housing fee for MSU dormitories: RUB 13,000 to RUB 17,000 per month, subject to housing conditions.
  2. Cost of a health certificate and HIV/AIDS test: from RUB 1,350.
  3. Health insurance or medical services contract: from RUB 7,000.
  4. Cost of translation of academic certificates: from RUB 1,000.
